I
began my career in the
early 90’s where I managed to gain work in the modelling industry.
It’s always a good feeling to see your work published, and
modelling can be
thrilling and exciting in its own way, but for me personally I always
had a great yearning to
take on other challenges. With this in mind I decided to embark
on what was, and still is, a challenging yet rewarding career. I
have attended
courses at RADA and trained at other theatre workshop type courses
involving
lots of improvisational skills, which has proved to be very useful.
I began, like
most
actors, gaining small roles in
television, films, short films, corporate productions, student films
and commercials. I then landed a small, but rather significant
role alongside Sean Bean in the gritty football film ‘When Saturday
Comes’ as Sean's one night stand, yummy! The publicity I received for
this took me by surprise and enabled me to appear in a sketch on Chris
Evans TFI Friday Show. A role as an Assassin in the British
gangster thriller ‘The Killing Zone’ followed. This proved that I could
play more than just a sexy bimbo, not that there is anything wrong with
playing bimbos by the way! I continued with Modelling and other
small parts before I was offered the lead role of Rachel in the low
budget interactive, sci fi, pilot ‘Advanced Warriors’ where I played a
very aggressive, bitch from hell type character. I was
trained up for a number of martial arts fight sequences which
take place in various scenes. The film also has appearances from
Chase Masterson (Deep Space Nine) and Jeremy Bulloch (Star Wars).
It appears that the martial arts films have become very popular
again since Bruce Lee first emerged in films such as ‘The Big Boss,
Fist of Fury, Enter the Dragon’ etc. I have recently passed phase
3 in JKD concepts (Nov 06) - Student of the year (Dec 06).
Martial arts skills seems to be a unique asset
in the up and coming films of today.
Since my
appearances at
various sci-fi events /
conventions around the country it made me really appreciate the size of
the fan base that goes with the sci-fi world. I was very fortunate to
be able to present an award at the SFX event to Kirsten Dunst, who
wasn’t actually there! oh well.
I was also interviewed on the TV Show Loose
Lips with another cast member from Advanced Warriors.
Appearances at
such
events may increase since I landed
the role of Nurse Sandy Beach, in the sci fi
comedy series ‘Starhyke’ starring Claudia Christian. Hopefully,
this will be lots of fun!
Finished filming
on the feature film 'The Pale Man', where I
play
gangsters' girlfriend 'Sharon', this will be released for
satellite TV in February (2006).
I have also been
working on some short films, including lead character
'Christine' in 'Echo'.
I've just had a
wonderful time playing the part of 'Thelma' in the
stage production of 'Pack of Lies' which ran for four nights at kent's
oldest 'Theatre Royal' in Margate,(Sep 06). Hopefully more work will
follow with the 'East Kent Professional Players'.
